Building brand affinity with Yale smart loving

Yale EMEA asked us to create an impactful campaign to engage consumers around Valentine’s Day.

The challenge

It’s fair to say Yale’s social channels have a relatively small following given the size of the group. So we needed to create a campaign that would appeal to a much broader audience and be something followers would share. And whilst there is a tenuous link between expensive gifts and security products we felt that there was a greater opportunity to grow brand awareness. Like many popular brands who use the day as an opportunity to share light hearted content.

The big idea?

There’s nothing better than some good old self deprecation to get some laughs. So we created ‘Yale smart loving’ with its very own ‘Yale Guru’ who’s sole purpose is to create weird and wonderful contraptions to help those unlucky in love. But there’s one catch... they all backfire!
