From smart traffic lights optimizing city vehicle flow to intelligent meters that monitor and manage domestic energy usage, our world increasingly runs on connected machines. In a recent thought leadership campaign, we helped our longtime client G+D unpack the possibilities, challenges, and potential of IoT payments.

THE CHALLENGE

IoT payments represent both an exciting possibility and a complex technical reality. From simple notifications where machines alert humans to make payments, to autonomous systems like smart refrigerators that order and pay for goods without intervention, the world of IoT payments is nuanced.

To effectively communicate both the excitement and technical rigor, it was vital to create a campaign visual identity that successfully accompanied the whitepaper content that G+D tasked us to research, write, and edit.


The Big Idea

The campaign needed to effectively contextualize the positive possibilities that IoT payments can bring, while being robust enough to support promotional activity

We decided to explore and promote a whimsical depiction of IoT payment "moments," showing scenarios enhanced, or indeed made possible, through machine-to-machine transactions. Through whimsy and humanization, we envisaged a relatable and engaging campaign that would strike a chord with its audience.

THE RESULT

The resulting campaign successfully balanced technical sophistication with human warmth, making the complex world of IoT payments more accessible and engaging. The whimsical visual approach and conversational representation of technical processes helped G+D position itself as forward-thinking, approachable experts in this emerging field.
